西头村是狮岭镇下辖的行政村，在镇的西北部，辖区面积8平方公里，有16个经济社。因位于冯村的西端而得名。^[1]

历史沿革[edit]

西头一带的农业社始于1954年，次年又有兴隆、联益两社；1956年组成西头高级农业社，1958年改称西头大队，1963年1月与兴隆、联益两个大队合编，仍名西头大队。1987年1月设立西头村委会，起初归狮岭区公所管，3月起改归狮岭镇政府。^[1]

常住人口约3100人，930多户（该页未注明年份），主要姓氏有李、林、邱、汤、罗、钟、姚、邹、陈、袁等。^[1]

村有耕地3300亩，山林地5500亩。经济以工业和农业为主，村民的收入来自加工手工业、小五金等。山前旅游大道从村北经过，杨赤路在南面。^[1]

西头村连续三年（2020至2022年）列入「淘宝村」名单。^[1]2024年3月获「2023年广东省卫生村」称号；2024年11月获认定为「2024年广州市充分就业社区」。^[1]
