沙田镇隶属东莞市，处在东莞西南，正对东江南支流入海的河口与狮子洋，总面积约107平方千米。全镇下辖16个行政村和2个社区。2025年末，户籍居民约7.4万人，加上外来人口，常住人口为30.97万人。[1][3][6]

沙田原是滨海的滩涂与沙洲，清初以后陆续围田成陆，1987年设立镇人民政府。镇域以港口、石化和物流为主要产业，东莞港的沙田港区与虎门港综合保税区位于镇内。2000年1月，镇上获授「全国第一个龙舟之乡」称号，龙舟竞渡是当地的传统项目。[2][8][11]

历史沿革[edit]

清代以前，这一带大部分是海面，只有阇西山（蛇仔山）露出水面，清雍正年间的方志已有记载。清初江河冲积出沙滩，二百多年前有人从外地来围滩筑田：中堂司的麻冲人在立沙洲动工，厚街与虎门沿岸的人群则在杨公洲、西太隆、义沙、稔洲等地筑围。水上疍民与来自番禺、中山、顺德的农户随后到此定居立村。围田由业主自行经营，解放前这里分属虎门、厚街、麻冲等地多方管辖。[1][9]

1953年，沙田所在的地区改划为11区，同年划给新设的珠海县。1955年改称沙田区，1957年撤区并大乡，沙田并入虎门乡，立沙则并入彰澎乡。1958年成立人民公社，1961年设沙田人民公社。[1][11]

1983年的沿革有两种写法。镇政府网站称当年9月撤销人民公社，设沙田区公所，横流圩另成立横流镇人民政府；博雅地名网与快懂百科则写作「改称沙田区」。[1][9][11]

1985年东莞撤县建市。1987年4月撤区建镇，成立沙田镇人民政府，原先的15个乡改称管理区。1988年1月东莞升格为地级市，沙田镇直属市领导。1998年管理区名称撤销，改称村（居）民委员会。2012年，全镇划分为立沙、新沙、沙田、大洲四个片区。[1][9]

地理环境[edit]

镇境地形平缓，水道纵横；地势自西北向东南逐渐降低，是珠江三角洲平原的一部分。阇西山与稔洲山是境内仅有的两处三级阶地，阇西山公园所在的阇西山是全镇海拔最高处。[2][9]

沙田地处北回归线以南，属南亚热带过渡地区，夏长无冬，日照充足，常受台风、暴雨和咸潮影响。镇境濒临狮子洋，海岸线长度各家说法不一：快懂百科与博雅地名网作28千米，镇政府人口页面则写作43.40千米。[2][3][9][10]

境内已知的矿产以黏土、河沙和花岗石等非金属矿为主。[9]

人口民族[edit]

在第七次全国人口普查中，以2020年11月1日零时为标准时点，常住人口计210175人。镇政府网站的人口页面给出2025年底的数字：常住居民为30.97万，登记在册的户籍居民约7.4万。快懂百科、百度百科引用的是2024年底的数字，常住约26.31万人、户籍约7.02万人。各项数字的年份不同，不宜直接比较。[10][3][7][8]

经济[edit]

据镇政府网站，2025年全镇生产总值超过295亿元；过去五年累计增长35.2%，年均增速6.2%。规模以上工业增加值每年平均增长8.1%。同年进出口总额为1973.8亿元，过去五年年均增长21.1%。截至该年，市场主体超过2.7万户，「四上」企业增至587家。[4]

产业以临港为主。立沙岛石化园区承接石油化工品的运输与精细化工，西大坦一带建有集装箱与保税物流园区。镇内的沙田港区属东莞港的主要作业区，国家一类口岸东莞港也设在此。[2][8]

2012年前后，农业上有水产养殖、蔬菜与观赏鱼三类基地，其中水产养殖约一万三千亩，蔬菜约一万亩。[8]

镇内有广深沿江高速、南沙大桥和穗莞深城际轨道，并有莞番高速、沿海公路等干线穿过。穗深城际铁路在境内设东莞港站。[8][9]

文化[edit]

咸水歌是渔民用广州话（白话）演唱的渔歌，多为男女对唱，常用于婚嫁与节庆。镇上曾设立非遗保护办公室，搜集唱本、开办传习班。2012年，沙田镇被评为「广东省水上民歌（咸水歌）艺术之乡」和「中国水上民歌（咸水歌）之乡」。[8]

龙舟历史悠久。2000年1月，国家体育主管部门和中国龙舟协会授予沙田镇「全国第一个龙舟之乡」称号。自2006年起，镇上每3年举办一届龙舟节。[8][11]

2025年政府工作报告把疍家、莞草和龙舟列为要发扬的三类文化。本地方言为粤语。[5][8]

名胜古迹[edit]

西大坦村一带的海岸线上有「海鲜长廊」，杨公洲、民田、福禄沙等村的荷塘与莲藕种植地在夏季开花。先锋渔港在镇域西北部，隔江与立沙岛相望，据快懂百科，港内捕捞船约190艘。[8]

获得荣誉[edit]

2014年7月，沙田镇入选全国重点镇，由住房和城乡建设部等部门确定。2020年，经全国爱卫会核定，沙田镇属于2019年度的国家卫生乡镇。2025年9月，全国千强镇名单公布，沙田镇名列第92位。[8]

2026年5月，沙田镇列入广东省第一批小城市试点培育名单，该名单属「百县千镇万村高质量发展工程」。[10][8]
