白沙社区位于虎门镇东北部，与厚街镇白濠村隔渠相连，村民多为郑姓。宋代郑氏先人定居此地，元代立寨，明代设巡检司，是虎门历史上的一个重要聚落。[2]

村内的白沙郑氏大宗祠始建于宋代，明万历、清嘉庆年间重修，是郑氏族人的始祖祠。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立后此地称白沙乡，划入东莞县第六区。虎门人民公社设立后，它改为白沙大队；1983年又恢复为白沙乡，归虎门区公所。1987年改设白沙管理区，归虎门镇直管。1999年成为白沙村委会，2005年转为社区居委会。[1]

据东莞市政府网的村落介绍，郑氏原籍潮阳，宋季郑崇任广盐课提举，常往来靖康盐场。因虎头门水深浪急，他曾在武山（今威远岛）一带暂避，喜其山水清胜，遂迁居今地。当地原有刘氏村落，刘氏后迁出，部分移居今白濠村。[2]

水围与城堡[edit]

宋代这里临海，控制舟楫溯莞邑的水道。元代立白沙寨，与中堂、京山并称莞邑三故寨；明初改寨为巡检司，成为地方行政中心。[2]

明末进士郑瑜官至七省粮道，回乡营建水围村，仿明代村堡建筑，周围有护城河，形如寿龟，称「逆水游龟」。[2]

白沙郑氏大宗祠为三间三进二廊的合院式建筑。[1]

特产[edit]

村民自明清起擅长腌制腊鸭，从开膛到漂水、腌制都有讲究，风味独特，世人以「百沙油鸭」称之。[2]
