村子四周群山环绕，地形像盆，靠近莲塘龙尾的一侧地势偏低，村民由此走出村外，因而叫山口。[1]

沿革[edit]

山口的建制变化如下：1955年9月设山口乡，1958年10月为山口大队，1983年11月复为山口乡，1986年11月设山口村委会，1989年8月改为山口管理区，1999年5月又定为山口村委会。[1]
