双下村在黄槐镇，原名双溪，村名与炉下溪和双头的无名小溪汇流之处有关。[1]

地名由来与沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，村子原叫双溪，取炉下与双头无名溪两条水汇合之意；又因地处双头树下方，改称双下。[1]

双下与双头在1958年合组一个大队，叫双下；1975年双头另立，双下沿用旧称。1984至1986年两地一度合为双下乡，之后在1989年改设管理区，又于1999年改设村委会。[1]
