历史沿革[edit]

村原叫“新联”，因福兴镇也有一个新联村，便按当地方言的谐音把“联”换成“元”，成了新元。[1]1958年这里称三星营，1959年为新元大队，1984年改乡人民政府，1989年为管理区，1999年改称村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

主要种水稻。2020年8月，新元村以丝苗米入选首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村。[1]
