上长岭村在新陂镇西部，西邻叶塘镇麻岭村，下辖25个村民小组。博雅地名网记其在册684户、2542人，总面积1.59平方千米，耕地1156亩；百度百科称有3个片区、18个自然村，2005年户籍人口2760人。[1][2]2013年8月，村子列入第二批中国传统村落名录。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村原名四岭村，由长岭、侧桥岭、金岭、金子岭4个村合成；1951年10月并村后定名新岭乡。[1][2]1958年9月分为新岭、新金两个大队，1961年6月新岭大队再分为长岭、侧桥两个，1963年10月重新合并。[1]1981年地名普查时因与别处同名，又处在上方，改称上长岭，1984年3月为上长岭乡。[1][2]
名胜古迹[edit]
据百度百科，村内现存30余座清代古民居，多为围龙屋，五栋楼和慈恩庐是梅州市特色古民居；另有革命烈士纪念碑和七夕民俗文化广场。[2]慈恩庐又称李洁之将军府，始建于1933年，历时5年建成，由法国设计师设计，兼取围龙屋和西式建筑的样式；2010年修缮，后改作客家风情艺术酒店，2012年10月开业。[3]
著名人物[edit]
李洁之（1900—1994年）是村中人，国民革命军陆军中将，曾任虎门要塞司令、广东省会警察局局长，1949年率部起义，新中国成立后任广东省水利厅副厅长、广东省政协副主席等职。[4]
