河东镇在广东省梅州市五华县中部，县城所在地，位于琴江河东岸，辖区面积238.94平方千米，2019年末户籍人口153233人[1]。1986年11月由水寨区改设为镇，2004年又并入原油田镇和平南镇，现辖3个社区、43个行政村[1][3]。镇名取自它在县城琴江河以东的位置[2]。2020年11月，河东镇获授「第六届全国文明村镇」称号[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

河东一带旧称水寨，博雅地名网的历史沿革页称此地始建于清康熙二十五年（1686年）。进入20世纪中叶后，建制几经变化：先在1950年5月设水寨区，1957年改作水寨乡，1958年成了水寨公社；1983年社改回区；到1986年11月，水寨区不再保留，另设河东镇[3]。

2004年，五华县调整部分乡镇区划，油田、平南两个镇并入河东镇。油田镇的前身可追溯到1950年后的区、乡，1958年立油田公社，1972年郭田公社从中分出，1983年又改称区，1986年成乡，1993年升格为镇。平南公社则是1972年用双华、横陂两地划出的部分地域合成的，1983年改区，1986年11月改镇[3]。这次调整的月份，博雅地名网两页说法不一，历史沿革页写10月，概况页写11月[3][4]。

百度百科记载，到2020年6月，全镇辖3个社区、43个行政村[1]。镇内村的沿革多与上述两镇相连，例如浮湖村、大嵩村原属油田镇[6][7]，蝉塘村、黄泥寨村原属平南镇[8][9]。

地理环境[edit]

镇域东面是兴宁市水口镇，南面与横陂镇、双华镇相连，西面和北面隔着琴江河，对岸是水寨镇[1]。镇名的由来，博雅地名网写作因其地处五华县城琴江河东面，河水沿镇境蜿蜒而下[2]。气候为亚热带季风气候[1]。

经济[edit]

据百度百科，2019年末全镇的农业经济总收入为17.73亿元，镇级财政收入为2.06亿元左右（20589.55万元），农村居民年人均纯收入12454元[1]。

博雅地名网的概况页（页面未注年份，所述最晚的事在2005年12月）说，镇上设有全县规模最大的农贸批发市场，即五华易发批发市场，建有约2.3万亩的果茶和养殖基地，出产「茶亭岗金柚」，梅州地区较大的养猪繁殖基地也在镇内；县城东侧规划了占地7000多亩的城东工业园区[4]。2020年5月，河东镇列入2020年农业产业强镇建设名单[2]。

2020年8月，广东省农业农村厅公布首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，镇内增塘村[10]、苑堂村[11]入选，产品为金柚，沙渴村[12]、化裕村[13]入选，产品为丝苗米。

文化[edit]

五华县水寨中学在河东镇。学校的源头是1914年的私立振兴小学；此后它在1944年改办振兴中学，转为公办并定名水寨中学是在1950年冬，其间还曾叫过五华中学（1972年至1981年）。据百度百科，它在2008年被评为广东省国家级示范性高中[5]。

博雅地名网的概况页引用旧时流传的说法，称水寨曾有「一圩二炮台三城门四楼阁五神庙六遇渡七当铺八大街」的格局[4]。百度百科把古水寨寨顶巷列为镇内景点[1]。

荣誉[edit]

  • 2002年6月，被广东省委授予「广东省农村基层组织建设三级联创『六个好镇党委』」称号[4]。
  • 广东省委、省政府在2005年12月授予它「文明镇」的称号[4]。
  • 2020年11月，被授予「第六届全国文明村镇」称号[2]。

著名人物[edit]

马文（1907年—2004年），又名质文，油田化裕村人，老红军，曾任北京航空学院副院长。1926年他在水寨振兴学校读高小时，听了古大存的演讲[2]。百度百科把马文列为水寨中学的知名校友[5]。
