城东社区位于惠东县县城老城区的东部，隶属平山街道。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

社区因在平山老城区之东而得名。它最初是1958年4月设立的平东街居委；当年11月随惠东并入惠阳县，1965年起重归惠东县。行政上先归平山镇公社（1966年），后归平山镇（1980年12月）。居委名称几经变更：东街居委（1987年3月，据惠东府函〔1987〕17号）、城东街道（1993年2月，全镇撤销街道办事处时）、城东居委（1996年9月），2002年才改成现在的社区名。[1]

人口与社区建设[edit]

博雅地名网收录的社区概况称，社区分为4个居民小组，约有3400户；户籍人口13770人，常住的有11480人。[2]2010年社区建起学雷锋志愿服务站，陆续组建党员、青少年、长者、亲子等志愿服务队，并用“社区、社工、社会组织”联动的方式开展活动。[2]

2016年获「惠州市最美志愿服务社区」，2017年获「广东省宜居社区」，2022年9月又被评为「惠州市2022年度绿色社区」。[1][2]
