历史沿革[edit]
1951年，这片地方归八街。八街在1955年办起平联、大新两个初级社；1957年，这两个社与五街的三个初级社合办，成了金光高级社。此后的名称依次是：金光农业大队（1959年）、金光革命委员会（1966年）、金光村委（1978年）、金光管理区（1983年）；1987年3月按惠东府函〔1987〕17号文又叫金光村委，1993年起为金光街道，1996年9月降为居委，2002年成为社区。2017年3月13日，惠东府函〔2017〕90号文批准从这里划出华侨城社区。[1]
社区荣誉[edit]
2022年9月，金光社区被评为「惠州市2022年度绿色社区」。[1]
