观音阁镇是广东省惠州市博罗县东北部的一个镇，坐落在东江中游西北岸，隔江与惠城区芦洲镇相望，也是博罗、惠州市区、河源三地的交接处。镇名源于清乾隆年间东江边的“埠鹅古寺”（观音堂），店铺聚集成圩后称观音阁。全镇设1个社区、14个行政村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网记述，乾隆二年（1737年）有陈姓人家自兴宁来此开店，二十六年（1761年）村民又在东江边形似鹅的埠头角兴建埠鹅古寺，寺中奉“坐莲观音”，民间叫观音堂。随着店铺增加，这里发展为圩镇，名为观音阁。[2]

建置方面：公社时期在1959年设立；1983年11月撤社设区，称观音阁区；1986年1月撤区设镇，沿用观音阁之名，仍归博罗县。[2][3]民国时期，镇域一度划入河源县，新中国成立后才划回博罗，杨村等村的村情也有同样的记载。[4]

地理环境[edit]

镇南是河漫滩与阶地形成的平地，镇北是丘陵。东江在镇内流经9个村委会，长31.8公里。从镇区到惠州市区53公里，到博罗县城54公里，到深圳55公里，去河源约20分钟。附近有惠深、广惠、惠河三条高速公路，另有205国道、324国道，以及京九铁路的广梅汕段。[1]气候属亚热带季风气候。[1]

人口与面积[edit]

百度百科记：面积为143.93平方千米，2017年的人口是18641人；2014年全镇地区生产总值6.2255亿元。[1]博雅地名网引第七次全国人口普查结果，称全镇人口约1.92万，在博罗县各镇（街道）中排第17位，面积排第7位。[2]

经济[edit]

博雅地名网转录的镇情说，镇上办有糖厂、水泥厂、制衣厂、炮竹厂，村民做竹器，另有外资的化妆品、塑胶、皮具企业；种植以水稻、糖蔗、花生为主，也有养殖，红糖和竹器出口日本、东南亚。[3]同网称，观音阁糖厂1954年开办，产黑糖五十多年，日产能力600吨，是全国最大的机制黑糖厂。[2]被列为本地特产的还有观音阁花生、淮山和红瓜子。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2023年10月评为广东省森林城镇（2023年度），2024年3月命名为广东省卫生乡镇（2023年度），2026年3月又入选广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇名单。[2]
