1984年称沙尾新区，1987年设沙尾居民居委会，2001年起称沙尾社区居民委员会，沿用至今[1]。沙尾社区在2019年9月公布的名单中，列为2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位[1]。
