历史沿革[edit]
沙尾在1952年已是第三区下的行政村，1957年称沙尾乡，1958年成为振文公社的沙尾大队；山东村后来即由它分出。[2]
概况[edit]
全村12个自然村，7680人（1545户），耕地面积2002亩，樟大线从村边经过。当时各自然村的公路约九成已硬化，电话入户率94%。[1]
沙尾的一个安全文明小区获湛江市评为模范小区，所辖独竹村则是吴川市的文明村。辖区有初级中学1所、完全小学3所，在校学生900多人。[1]
