南街街道是广东省肇庆市广宁县的县城所在街道，也是广宁县人民政府的驻地，位于全县中部，街道办事处设在中华东路18号。[1][2]街道现辖护国、永青、红星、五一、圣堂5个社区和林洞、富溪、江美等18个行政村，总面积189.3平方千米。[2]它原为南街镇，1961年单独设镇，2020年改为街道。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

明嘉靖三十八年（1559年）广宁建县，县城就设在今南街一带，当时属大圃都地。街名来自县署之南的一条街，那里是货物集散之处，故称“南街”。[2]

道光元年（1821年）全县编为17个民铺，南街列入寺前铺，管2甲。民国时期，南街先在兖文乡（1937年起，至1945年），又在治西乡（1946年11月起，至1949年）。[3]

20世纪50年代初到1960年，南街曾分别隶属城关区、八区、新楼区和红星公社；1961年起自成南街镇；2020年镇改街道。[3]

人口与经济[edit]

街道概况载有人口120047人（农业70215人，非农业49832人），未注明年份；第七次全国人口普查数为13.83万人，在广宁县各街道、镇中排第一。[1][2]概况还称，在广宁县“一区两极一圈”的发展格局中，南街的定位是“产城融合区”。[2]

2020年至2022年，南街街道每年都在淘宝镇名单之列；广东省农业农村厅于2022年10月把它认定为「一村一品、一镇一业」专业镇，产业是大芥菜和油茶；2021年1月它还入选第二批广东省旅游风情小镇。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

广宁县农民协会旧址原是梁氏宗祠，砖木结构，三间两进。1924年10月，广宁县农民协会成立，是西江地区第一个县级农会；1925年2月，县农协机关迁到此处办公，同年4月在此召开第二届代表大会，通过减租等决议。旧址1989年先是县级文物保护单位，2002年7月升为省级。[4][5]关于旧址所在，博雅地名网写作南街镇新楼江布村，百度百科则称在广宁第一中学校园内，两处说法不一。[4][5]

万竹园在南街古琴岗上，1993年新建，占地3.3公顷，引种本县和外地竹子120多个品种，并刻立了书法碑林。[6]龙嘴岗墓群在巷口村，属战国晚期，1995至1996年清理墓葬15座，随葬品合计230件：铜器166件，陶器42件，砺石22件。[7]周其鉴纪念馆设在县城东其鉴纪念中学内，1993年4月落成，建筑面积1200多平方米。[8]

著名人物[edit]

周其鉴（1893年—1928年）是广宁人，1921年入党，曾任广东省农民协会执行委员、中共广东省委委员，参加过南昌起义，1928年1月被捕牺牲；他还是广宁县农民协会的首任执行委员会委员长。[4][9]
