地名与历史[edit]
地名来自当地群山排列、中间是平坦山谷、水塘遍布的景象，夜里星光映在水面，得名「星平」。[1]清道光年间属车前铺，1930年名星平；1951年改作莫二乡，1958年改作星平大队，1983年改作星平乡，1987年改作星平村委会，1998年起为村民委员会。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
村情介绍称，全村分为29个村民小组，居民合计4051人，分三大自然村，其中莫二村离县城约1公里；种沙糖桔8000多亩，另有大芥菜基地和养猪大户。[1]2021年9月，星平村入选第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单，产业为竹笋。[1]
