平布社区在金渡镇东部，靠双金公路，面积约4.2平方公里，耕地1600余亩，共分8个村民小组，人口1574人[1]。
概况[edit]
社区与圩镇相距约8公里，双金公路和广肇高速公路从村前经过。村民以种养为主，不少人外出种菜。社区在双金公路旁办了占地150亩的平布工业园，有8家企业，生产工艺陶瓷、皮革和塑胶制品；后来又办起用地500亩、投资总额1.5亿元的平布五金工业园，有16家企业，生产五金电镀制品[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
1949年以前属高要三区安怀乡，1949年以后属七区安东乡；1958年编入金龙公社，称平布大队，次年改隶金渡公社；1983年大队改为乡，1987年乡改为村委会，1989年改为平布管理区，1998年管理区又改回村委会，2014年起设居委会[1][2]。
著名人物[edit]
伍学宗（1905年—1974年）是平布村人[3]。
