平棉村是高州市荷花镇南部的行政村，下设16个村民小组，据百度百科有690户、3730人，总面积6.5平方千米，耕地2486亩。[2]村名因过去村里种满棉花。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

平棉大队成立于1961年体制下放之际，1983年改设乡，1986年改设农村管理区，1999年起为村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]2019年9月，平棉村列入「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位的2018年度名单；2021年12月获广东省卫生村称号。[1][2]

经济[edit]

主产香蕉，农业以速生桉等经济林木为主；村里以农户加公司的方式发展皮革加工，约八成农户参与。[2]
