下俗村隶属高州市荷花镇，是镇下辖的行政村，与上俗村同出一源，原为上俗大队的一部分。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历，一说是元末明初南迁的移民在此聚居，分成上、下两个家族，居下的一支称“下族”，后写作“下俗”。[1]上俗村的得名与此相关，见上俗村。[1]

1958年公社化时，下俗属上俗大队；1961年上俗大队分作6个大队，下俗大队由此建立，驻地一度设在下俗村，后迁至仓地村，名称不变。1983年改设乡，1986年改设农村管理区，1999年起为村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]

2019年9月，下俗村列入「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位的2018年度名单，同年10月入选2019年广东省卫生村名录。[1][2]
