沙田镇是广东省茂名市高州市西部的一个建制镇，镇政府驻沙田圩，辖1个社区和13个行政村。[1][2]镇名取自当地田土多沙的特点。[2]全镇面积约98.8平方千米，七普时人口约2.75万。[1]龙眼是镇上最出名的水果，有“中国金牌龙眼第一镇”的说法。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

维基百科称，镇名得自当地田土多沙；沙田乡设于1957年，1961年改为沙田公社，1983年公社改为区，1987年改区建镇。[2]

镇辖区在2023年的区划中为1个社区、13个行政村，即沙田社区（博雅地名网记作东区社区）和沙田、周村、山曜、罗坑、桃栏、高一、曹岭、永乐、六联、卢村、乐山、官岭、赤坎各村。[1][2]博雅地名网的各村条目显示，这些村大多源自1961年的生产大队，1983年改为乡，1986年改称农村管理区，1999年起统称村民委员会。[4]

地理环境[edit]

据博雅地名网转载的镇概况，沙田镇东邻宝光街道，南接石鼓镇，西北方向通往化州和广西。地貌大致南部为平原、中部为丘陵、北部为山区；沙田江自北向南贯穿全镇，南流汇入鉴江，经石鼓、吴川出海。[3]镇域属亚热带气候。[3]

经济[edit]

该概况称，沙田龙眼栽培历史悠久，并引《汉书》《茂名县志》的记载为据；镇里从1982年起组织农民开发山地种果，1983年率先把龙眼引到山上大面积种植。1992年，该镇选送的储良大广眼龙眼获首届中国农业博览会金质奖。到2004年，山坡地上的木本水果已有8.3万亩，龙眼约占6万亩；这一年水果产量为16513吨。[3]

镇内还产高岭土，概况记载勘明储量110万吨，产品销往日本、韩国、美国等十多个国家和地区。2004年全镇工业总产值3.96亿元，有工业企业838家，其中除3家国营、集体企业外均为民营。[3]

广东省农业农村厅2020年8月公布首批「广东省一村一品、一镇一业专业村」名单，镇内的永乐村（龙眼）和桃栏村（荔枝）在列。[5][6]

荣誉[edit]
