勒竹社区在佛山市顺德区东北部，与番禺、南海两区相邻，占地约3.16平方千米，2001年由村改为居委会。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

据《广东省顺德市地名志》，宋末这里已有居民。当地曾种带刺的竹，叫“簕竹”，后来“簕”改写为“勒”，成了今名。[3]建制上，1952年设乡，1958年改作大队，1983年又改回乡，1987年起叫村，1990年成为管理区，2001年9月成立居委会。[1]

社区概况[edit]

居民一千多户，常住四千余人，外来人口约三千；下面有4个居民小组和1个股份合作社。[2]2011年3月成立政务工作站，把村居自治事务同行政事务分开办理。[1][2]2019年9月，社区列入广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]
