历史沿革[edit]
据《广东省顺德市地名志》，唐末已有人定居。原先这里是一块状如大刀的沙洲，叫大刀沙，到明景泰元年（1450）登记乡村时，借谐音写成“大都”。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
到2012年底，全村1275户，共4163人，内含农业户口3636人；设车公大埠、东便宣美、北街、禾渚4个村民小组。[1]原有耕地5390亩，其中502亩转作工业用地。[1]2020年至2022年间，大都村多次上了淘宝村名单；2024年8月，进入「佛山市百千万工程第二批典型镇村」名单；2026年1月，被评为「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
棠溪甘公祠在渤海大街，奉祀甘氏六世祖棠溪公，明万历年间初建，嘉庆九年（1804）重修；附近还有甘氏家庙、云叟甘公祠和渤海书院，合成一片祠堂群。2009年7月，它被列为顺德区第四批文物保护单位。[3]雕塑家梁明诚是大都人。[4]
