村名各取潭村、登洲两个村名中的一字。[3]潭村和登洲于2001年9月并为一个村委会，即潭洲村委会。[1]博雅地名网的页面标题写作“潭州村”，其沿革和统计用区划数据则写作“潭洲村”。[1][2]
经济与文化[edit]
佛陈路穿村而过，距佛山市中心约5公里；常住2135户、7154人，另有外来人口5500，分5个村民小组。[1][2]村在2001年通过广东省卫生村验收，被介绍为《三字经》作者区适子的故乡。[2]2022年入选淘宝村；2024年8月，进入「佛山市百千万工程第二批典型镇村」名单；2026年1月，被评为「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。[1]
