大冲社区在里水镇南部，面积6.2平方千米，与大沥镇相邻，含15个自然村、9个村民小组[1]。

相传始祖梁敬孟于南宋端平年间（1234至1236年）从花县神山迁来开村[2]。

名称由来[edit]

先民当年在村前挖了一条大涌，引大榄河水灌溉农田，村因此叫大冲[3]。

历史沿革[edit]

1951至1954年是大冲乡。1955年至1962年初，大冲大队一度分成大冲、忠厚、象岗三个大队，当年年底又合而为一。其后的名称依次是：1971至1979年大冲革命委员会，1980至1982年大冲大队，1983至1986年大冲乡，1987至1988年村委会，1989至1995年管理区；1999年再称村委会，2011年改设居民委员会[2]。

人口与经济[edit]

村委会简介称，户籍人口5112人（1630户），流动人口超过一万人，党员260人；2008年，村、组两级的经济总收入为2700万元，人均收入约1.2万元；2007年获「广东省卫生村」称号[1]。
