东二社区位于佛山市南海区桂城街道西南部，面积1.5平方千米，下辖6个村民小组，分别是南兴、新村、东约、南约、西约和中约。[1][2] 新中国成立初期，这一带分设东一、东二、东三三个乡，东二乡包括新村、南兴和蔗围，其余两乡的名称后来都不再使用，唯独「东二」留存下来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

东二村在明洪武三年（1370年）归𧒽岗堡，民国时先后属蔗围乡和东胜乡；1954年组建东二南新农业生产合作社，人民公社时期隶属上游、平洲两个公社，1985年7月起由桂城管辖。[1]

社区户籍人口9442人，外来暂住人口约2万人（年份未注明）；获过省卫生村、省文明村等称号，2019年9月列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1][2]
