和平社区在汕头市潮阳区和平镇，辖区面积2.5平方公里，位于练江南北两岸，国道、省道、区道与练江水道在此交会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网所录说法是：南宋帝昺元年（1278年），林氏（孟森公一家）与杨氏从福建莆田迁到潮阳蚝坪建村；后来文天祥领兵到此，见村民乐善好施，题字「和平里」，村名由此而改。1958年起为和平农业生产大队，1984年改作和平乡，1986年改设和平村委会，1988年改叫管理区，1999年又改居民委员会。[1]

简介称社区有1398户、8080人，党员159人，企业100多家，外来从业人员2000多人（简介未注年份）。[1]2026年3月被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1]
