新和社区在汕头市潮阳区和平镇，辖区面积2.5平方公里，在练江下游一带；练江上的和平大桥与324国道都从社区境内通过。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村志类材料称祖先在五代后梁开平年间（907—911年）来此立村；南宋景炎三年（1278年）文天祥路过，倡议改称和平里，村落分为上、中、下寨，此处称上寨村。1958年起为新和农业生产大队，1984年改作新和乡，1986年改设新和村委会，1988年改叫管理区，1999年仍作村委会，沿用至今。社区名取「新兴和平」之意。[1]
经济[edit]
简介称社区有1272户、7162人，企业53家，外来从业人员3000多人；1994年进入潮阳市首批「亿元村」，集体经济收入406万元（简介未注年份）。[1]2026年1月，获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
宋代的报德古堂在新和居委，1992年4月7日公布为潮阳区文物保护单位。[2]
