双塘村属广州市增城区中新镇，是镇辖的行政村。博雅地名网所载村情记其面积11平方千米，耕地约4200亩，户籍人口2320人（492户），流动人口30人，下辖16个自然村、21个村民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据村情，清道光年间一批村民从博罗长宁迁来，在村前挖了一口塘；之后又新建一个村，同样在村前挖塘，两村合称“双塘”。[1]

双塘村的集体组织始于1956年成立的双塘高级农业生产合作社。两年后实行人民公社化，村隶属中新公社，当时的生产大队叫双塘大队；1959年福和从中新公社划出，村随之改属福和公社。1983年公社改区，大队改称乡，1987年撤乡设村、成立村民委员会，仍归福和镇管辖，2004年福和镇并入中新镇后改属中新镇。[1]

经济与设施[edit]

2009年村里修建了占地700多平方米的露天娱乐场地，设有篮球场、乒乓球台和健身器械。[1]
