历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网记有一则传说：北宋初年，朝廷派杨家将南下，击败盘踞当地的南蛮势力，此后不再有战乱，居民为纪念杨家将，把这里叫作「太平」。[1]

太平镇的名称，另有清代太平场墟一说：墟日定在每月尾数为一、六的日子，镇名和太平村名都由此而来。[2]
