竹园社区位于梅岭街道，辖有竹园小区、福隆花园与宝龙金色花园三处。截至2023年，社区常住人口约5300人。[1][3]

地名由来[edit]

社区以最早建成交付使用的竹园小区命名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

20世纪90年代末，市里为解决干部职工的住房问题，兴建了一项安居工程，即竹园小区。此后小区旁又建成福隆花园和宝龙金色花园。[1]

2006年2月，竹园社区居委会成立，办公场所设在竹园小区。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年6月，社区获评「2020年度晋江市平安村（社区）」；2021年8月，获国家卫生健康委老龄司认定为「全国示范性老年友好型社区」；2021年11月，被福建省爱卫办命名为「福建省卫生社区」。[1]
