塘头村位于石狮市东北部，紧靠泉州湾，地处石狮市公路网络的中心地带，属宝盖镇。[1]

村名取自村前的象畔塘，村辖塘头、后厅两个自然村，清代以“塘头甜粿”闻名。[2][3]

地名[edit]

村子位于象畔塘之前，故取名“塘头”；象畔之名则因位于伏象山之侧而来。[3]

村子的雅称为“龙塘”。宋代，太原王氏的一支迁来此地，自称“龙塘王氏”。[3]

姓氏与人物[edit]

成化八年（1472年），陈江倪氏的倪仲泰迁居塘头乡。[3]

特产与老字号[edit]

清代，塘头以甜粿闻名，“塘头甜粿”因此远播闽台及东南亚。[3] 咸丰年间创办的王氏“义兴”甜粿铺，是一家有百年历史的老字号。[3]

行政沿革[edit]

明清时期，塘头属二十四都，后厅属二十三都。民国时属石狮镇龙塘保。1953年设塘头初级合作社，1956年设高级合作社，1958年改设塘头大队，1984年设村民委员会。[2]

据2026年3月的行政村简介，住户983户，村内人口3475人，其中外来2960人；村民小组17个，村民代表64人，支部党员83名。村民多以务工为生，小部分从事塑料五金加工和鞋材等企业。[1] 2024年12月的村情页则记为住户1017户、人口3495人。[4]

荣誉[edit]

村曾获「石狮市先进基层组织人口与计划生育工作先进单位」、泉州市文明单位等称号；2008年至2020年间，村子连续多年被泉州市人民政府评为文明村。[1]
