竹园村位于淮土镇东南一带，村名取自所在地曾连片生长的水竹。[1]

2020年12月，村子入选「2020年度福建省“一村一品”示范村」，产品为薏米。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明朝末年建村，清代属龙上上里，民国时为淮土乡竹园保。[1]

建国初属方田八区，后曾为竹园联社；1958年为淮土公社的竹园连，1961年设竹园大队。1966年一度改为竹园红旗大队，待1974年才又叫竹园大队；1984年，村子改设淮土乡竹园村民委员会。[1]
