竹根园村隶属广东省茂名市化州市杨梅镇，地处杨梅镇区东面，邻水埠村和吴川市振文镇。据博雅地名网的村情介绍，全村在册678户、3416人（该页未注明年份），总面积3平方千米，耕地约842.5亩。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
民国时期属南安乡，1949年后属杨梅圩；土改时期办起初级农业合作社；1958年公社化时起初自成竹根园小公社，后并入杨梅公社，叫竹根园大队；1983年称竹根园乡；1987年建立村民委员会，1989年改称管理区办事处。[1]
经济[edit]
主要经济作物是雪豆和辣椒，辣椒为特色产业。村情页给出的上一年农村经济总收入是3589万元。[1]
2019年9月，竹根园村列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
