历史沿革[edit]
村因坐落在横水坑附近得名。[1]黄、张、阮、陈等姓的先祖，在明正德年间（1506—1521）分别由会城、双水等地迁来立村。[1]清康熙县志记有横水村，道光县志记有横水圩。[1]1958年称横水管理区，1984年改乡，1986年称村委会。[1]
人口与土地[edit]
博雅地名网载，村有3条自然村、15个村民小组，815户，2552人，土地13600亩，其中耕地1030亩。西面属古兜山脉，有大营团水库；东面较平坦，主要是耕地、鱼塘和村庄。[1]
