历史沿革[edit]
相传立村时村北原有大河流过，后来成了农田，村名由此而来。[1]宋末元初，叶姓先祖从会城来到五指尖山东麓建村，最初叫叶家村。[1]清康熙年间的《古今图书集成》已记有水背桥和水背村。[1]光绪十九年（1893年）在旧村西侧建水背新村。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
博雅地名网载，全村面积约4.2平方公里，总人口1100多人，耕地1300多亩，山地2000多亩。村里种甘蔗、水稻，养四大家鱼，另有妇女组成的舞蹈队和曲艺团。[1]
