上元村是佛山市禅城区南庄镇东部的行政村，东临东平水道，隔河与石湾镇街道相望，有石南大桥相通，南隔吉利水道与顺德乐从相对。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据百度百科，上元建村于宋代（1078年），霍姓先祖在东村岗衲子山（磨笋岗）定居，村址原是东平水道与吉利涌之间近圆形的沙洲，故名上圆或上园，后写作上元，是南庄镇最早的村庄。[2] 1958年12月东元划入南庄公社，1963年5月合并后设上元大队，1983年称上元乡，1987年2月设南庄镇上元村民委员会，2002年12月划归禅城区。[3]
经济[edit]
村里陶瓷工业起步较早，建有上元建筑陶瓷总厂和实业公司，产品销往全国及港澳、东南亚。[1]
