地理环境[edit]
村在贵屿镇西南部，离镇区约1.5公里，西南与陈店镇相邻。面积1.115平方千米，耕地692.3亩，共744户、4506人（年份未注明）。2013年工农业总产值2899万元，工业部分为2405万元，农业部分为494万元，农民人均的纯收入为7260元。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村名与水有关：练江支流环绕，溪中有七个小墩，形如月眉。唐开成四年（839年），苏琳被贬潮州，在此定居，所创的聚落初称“彭州园”，后改名湄洲；当地流传“未有贵屿埠，先有湄州苏”的说法。[1][2]1954年湄洲与玉窖合并为玉洲乡，1958年分开，改为湄洲大队，隶属贵屿公社，其后依次改乡（1984年）、村委会（1986年）、管理区（1988年），1999年称村委会。[2]
湄洲村入选2020年、2021年和2022年的淘宝村名单；2021年12月获评“2021年广东省卫生村”；2019年9月列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」；2026年3月被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
