鸥下社区是广东省汕头市龙湖区鸥汀街道下辖的社区，在街道中心，面积约1.4平方千米，南面是汕樟公路，西面是韩江，北面连着万吉工业区。[1] 社区是鸥汀背寨西部的村落，古时与鸥上合称“鸥汀背寨”。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

鸥下始建于宋徽宗宣和年间，与鸥上同在鸥汀背寨之内，寨的得名与重建经过见鸥上社区条目；因村在寨的西部，称鸥下。[1] 宋代时隶揭阳县蓬洲都，1563年澄海立县后归其管辖。1953年8月设鸥下乡（汕头市郊区下蓬区），此后改为鸥下生产大队。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

社区共2950户、8654人，其中农业人口2366人、非农业6288人；耕地仅80亩上下，居民就业长期以商贸为主。社区把集体自留用地和厂房出租，引进了毛衫、纺织、食品等10多家企业。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

鸥下许氏宗祠在南畔中街青砖祠巷，最早建于1650年（顺治七年），1708年重建，1936年和2006年又两度修缮；坐西北向东南，三进三开间，占地411平方米。门额“许氏宗祠”相传为南明礼部尚书黄锦所题。博雅地名网称它为广东省文物保护单位。[2]
