东升村又名塘东刘，系从塘东一带的刘厝分出独立建村，位于龙湖镇北面。居民多为刘姓，全村共3222人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年，因从塘东村名中取“东”字，又寓吉祥，遂定名「东升大队」；1999年起为东升村民委员会，至今未变。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

村域面积约1平方千米，耕地890亩。姓氏有刘、杨等，村子先祖来自福建莆田，海外侨胞约1500人。[1]

工副业以珠绣、电脑绣、制鞋、服装和家具为主，农业以水稻、甘茨和蔬菜为主。2005年，工农业总产值为1500万元。[1]

文化遗产[edit]

「塘东刘天褒节孝坊」建于清代，2020年4月16日，该坊被公布为「第四批潮州市文物保护单位」。[1][2]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，东升村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2020年9月和2022年10月，先后入选淘宝村名单。[1]
