历史沿革[edit]
1958年9月，五个自然村（杨堂、格沙、田边、鲤鱼沙和厚安）并成杨堂生产大队，属郊区人民公社；1966年起叫东升，沿用至今。80年代它先后改为乡政府、管理区办事处，隶石湾区环市镇，1999年初恢复村民委员会；禅城区成立后仍属环市镇，2003年9月环市改设街道，2006年6月起归祖庙街道。[3]
经济[edit]
近年该村借「三旧」改造推进格沙工业区的提升，把童服生产园区改建为集童服研发、展示、销售和商贸办公于一体的经济中心。[2]
