地名由来[edit]

村委会位于山脚下，周围是山岭，中间低洼如一口塘，故名山塘。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年山塘属阳江县第六区。1953年在第十三区设山塘乡，1956年划入织篢区，同年5月并入织篢乡。年末又归织篢人民公社，1959年变为山塘生产大队。1983年恢复山塘乡，1987年改为山塘村委会。1988年归阳西县织篢镇，1989年改设管理区，1999年重新设村委会。[2]
