山下村隶属东源县叶潭镇，是镇下辖的一个行政村。村名的来历是村落上片与下片的汇合处恰在山脚，故取名山下。[1]

2024年1月，村庄被确定为「2023年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」；2022年11月，本村获认定为「2021年度全国综合减灾示范社区」；2019年10月，列入「2019年广东省卫生村」名录。[1]

2020年8月，本村列入广东省农业农村厅公布的首批“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村，产品为沙田柚。[1]

文化[edit]

村内的八角楼建于1843年，1860年建成，历时17年，占地6308平方米，是河源少有的带护城河的八角楼。博雅地名网称其为广东省文物保护单位（第十批）。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年改称山下大队，1983年设山下乡，1987年改为山下管理区。1999年，东源县政府同意设立山下村委会，此名延续至今。[1]
