车田村隶属东源县叶潭镇，是镇下辖的一个行政村。村名的来历，据博雅地名网所载：早年村民缺少灌溉水源，后借三台水车浇灌田地，获得丰收，于是各取水车与农田的一个字作村名。[1]
2019年10月，本村列入「2019年广东省卫生村」名录。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1953年此地归第九区的车田乡，1957年为叶潭乡的车田小乡，1958年改称车田大队，1983年设车田乡，1987年改为车田管理区。1999年，东源县政府同意设立车田村委会，此名延续至今。[1]
