东南村位于上坪东片，是上坪镇的一个行政村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

约公元1400年，谢、陈两姓的始祖从江西锡州迁来，在上坪东片落户。他们建房的朝向为东南，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国后先称东南大队（1958年），之后再改东南乡（1984年）；1988年为东南管理区，1999年设东南村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2023年5月，获广东省爱卫会授予「2022年广东省卫生村」称号；2026年3月，被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]
