东新村在可塘镇东南，南与赤坑镇接壤，北距可塘社区约3公里，辖流冲、东溪口两个自然村，是个纯农业的行政村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

东新原先隶属陇东一带：1952年在九区陇东乡，1958年是陇东大队的部分；1978年另设东新大队，1987年改成村委会，1989年称管理区办事处，1998年恢复村委会。[1]

聚落与经济[edit]

流冲村的居民大多是赤坑南塗余姓的后裔，为同南塗的流冲相区别，称「流冲仔」；村后是流冲山，村前有公平水库干渠和省道241线。东溪口村在东溪口山南麓，有余、伍、张、宋、王、马、洪等姓，相当一部分居民已外迁。[1] 农业以水稻和荔枝为主，耕地534亩，其中荔枝170亩。[1]

2022年10月入选淘宝村名单；2023年5月获「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
