上北村在鹅埠街道（原鹅埠镇）北部，下设11个村民小组，红罗畲族村的畲族聚居点原属这里的村委会。[1]

博雅地名网的介绍：全村286户、1580人，耕地1860亩、山坡地3960亩，以种植为业；称汕尾市唯一的畲族聚居点红罗村在上北村委辖内，畲族村民220多人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1964年，鹅埠公社的北镇乡按地片分为两个大队，北片的这一个叫上北镇大队，后来的上北村即由此而来；南片的则是下北村。更早，它1950年属四区、鲘门区，1957年入鹅埠乡，1960年为公社北镇乡。1984年起改乡、设村委会、办事处，1998年定名上北村民委员会。[1]
