新园村在鹅埠街道（原鹅埠镇）东南部，与小漠街道交界。下有横东岭、罗厝村、桃仔园、温寮4个自然村，2026年3月入选「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。^[1]

博雅地名网的介绍：全村约787人，159户，有耕地380亩，务农和养殖是主要生计。^[1]

新园在1976年之前没有自己的大队：1958年隶东园大队，1965年转到水尾大队，1976年才独立。1984年它归鹅埠区水美乡，1987年设村委会，1989至1998年间的叫法是管理区办事处，此后恢复村民委员会。1950年时属四区、鲘门区。^[1]

博雅地名网列出两项荣誉。2023年4月，新园村进入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」的创建名单；2026年3月，又入选「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。^[1]
