下北村是鹅埠街道（原鹅埠镇）最西的村，与惠州市惠东县吉隆镇交界，辖牛湖、大新、江下等12个村民小组。在2026年1月被评为「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。^[1]

博雅地名网：全村213户、1180人，耕地1180亩，以耕作和种植业为主。^[1]

下北村与上北村同出北镇乡：1964年该乡一分为二，这一半叫下北镇大队。此前1950年它属四区、鲘门区，1960年随北镇乡归鹅埠公社。之后1984年改乡，1987年设村委会，1989年称管理区办事处，1998年定名下北村民委员会。^[1]

下北村2023年4月进入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建名单，2026年1月又获「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」称号。^[1]
