据博雅地名网，村中628户、2873人，劳动力1255人，外出户约占七成；耕地1224亩，其中旱涝保收的395亩。村里没有工业企业，以务农为主，集体经济十分薄弱。[1][2]

水利[edit]

前进村人少地多，有两座小二型水库，是镇区居民的主要水源；市国土部门还在村里改良了一千亩农田，适合规模化种植。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2020年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予「2020年广东省卫生村」称号；该厅2021年9月公布的第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单中，前进村以沙葛和一点红番薯上榜。[1]
