北方村在蕉岭县新铺镇，面积15.11平方公里。村情材料说，清嘉庆十七年（1812）时它是梅县辖境最北的一处，因此得名北方。^[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1812年起名北方村；1933年立北方乡；1958年并入新铺公社，北方成为一个生产大队；新铺设区后的1983年，改叫北方乡；1987年改称村委会，1990年为管理区，1999年起称北方村民委员会。^[1]

概况与荣誉[edit]

全村16个村民小组，558户、2289人（村情材料未注年份），耕地1965亩，种玉米、甘蔗、花生。2019年9月，列入2018年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。^[1]
