历史沿革[edit]
此地1949年划归城内区，1958年人民公社化，编入梅城卫星人民公社（后称梅城人民公社）。1975年起隶梅州镇，1978年12月梅州镇脱离梅县，社区所在随之归梅州市（县级）西区办事处。1987年4月撤区并小乡、改设乡镇，归黄塘办事处；1988年3月梅江区成立，仍属其黄塘办事处；1989年该办事处易名城西办事处，社区也随之改属。2002年，中华居委会并入长巷居委会。[1]
地名由来[edit]
居民世代聚居在一条长巷一带，因此得名。[1]
荣誉[edit]
西郊街道在2007年给居委会党支部记「表扬」，2008年又评为街道「文明社区」，党工委同年授予「先进基层党组织」；2009年，梅江区也授予「文明社区」称号。[1]
